Bottom left looks like a purple '65 or '66 Plymouth wagon with a white '68 Chevy Malibu behind it.
Next to them looks like a black '65 Pontiac Catalina with the yellow '68 or '69 Corvette in front of it.
Come on - there's more!
Solara - the front and back lights both stretched way out in a weird attempt at being interesting
Fair enough, you did say front and back.
Still, that's half. :P
The tails on an R class actually extend past the D-pillar.
Point is, it's a trend for the whole industry. They stretch them to try to make the vehicles look longer, sleeker. Different takes, but same theme.
It's lazy design, nothing more. For the most part, automotive "stylists" are lemmings of the highest degree.
Yep, 305 V6 in a '63 GMC Suburban.
I'm trying to solve a puzzling debate about the LE version that year. It concerns the front passenger door's interior. I can remember specifically that the driver's door had a plastic map bin/storage area down toward the bottom by the driver's left hand. I can't remember if the front passenger door had one on its side down by the right hand or not. Does anyone recall if there was one on that side, too? I'm tending to think that there was not a storage space on that door, but I'm being challenged
Thanks for any info.

Not just the Solara, that's my point.

The taillight is nearly the whole length of the trunk.
It's a widespread design trend. You don't have to like it, but look around, lots of cars look that way now.
Any how, back to the topic...

Those wheels look more Pontiac-ish to me.
Could also be an Opel...

RWD but not enough power to break traction, LOL. No power steering, either.
In Brazil, my brothers owned 3 Chevettes between them. They had the alcohol powered 1.6l engines, far quicker than the gas versions.
Those could *easily* break traction.

It's a mid size GM. For some reason I think it's a Buick without an engine.
I'm surprised that no one has yet pointed out that there was no '57 Edsel; it debuted in '58. I guess I'm the first smart a** to post.

Is that the one used in Buicks later? I think it is. I remember them as noisy and rough-running, sadly.

They're similar but this is the classic Rallye II wheel seen on so many GM cars of the era>

And the pic above with the rallye II wheels looks like a 1970 Camaro. In a nice period color.

Pontiac's were called Rally II's, I'm guessing, because they had an earlier wheel called a Rally I. Or, it was probably just called "Rally", but then the went back and called it Rally I after the II came out. Sort of like how people didn't call WWI that until WWII came out?
I think the Buick sport rim was called a Magnum, but not sure. And I think the Chevy was just a "Rally"...or at least, that's what we always called 'em.
This is the Magnum 500, often seen on all sorts of 60s 70s Buicks as well as Mustangs and others>

Very close to the Chevy, but with six slot openings instead of five. I think the Pontiac Rally I was only offered in '66-67, but not positive on that. I think they started offering the Rally II on midsize/compacts in '68, and in the full-sized 5" bolt pattern for '69.
Yup, the Indian version, the Hindustan Ambassador, was the most popular car on the subcontinent in the 20th Century. The wagon shown is a 1960 Morris Oxford Traveler.
