We'd suggest you skip the large cash amount upfront - limit it to first payment and DMV costs (make it an even $1000 so you can compare quotes). You'll have a higher payment, but will minimize the risk of losing the up front cash if the car is stolen or totaled.

Without the selling price, can't evaluate dealer 1.

For dealer 2, I get $501/mo - pretty close to the dealer quote.

HI I'm trying to get a 2018 Prestige Q5 and would like to know what the money factor and residual is for this

I'm in Texas and they are telling me it's

    MF = .00299
    Residual 15k = 55%

They are trying to play the game of that I got a great deal at 6% off MSRP, and they can't budge on the MF

.00174 is the base MF, but you're getting 7% off MSRP, which is good for a new 2018.

What is the adjusted cap cost, since the $1300 up front isn't enough to cover the fees?

$698 for clear shield / paint protection? In CA? Pure profit for the dealer.

I think there is room for improvement, here.

    Hello,

Can you please comment on the lease below? I am in Florida and this would be Premium Plus 36/10. I tried to use the lease calculator and I came up with a payment about $50 less, assuming I did all the calculations right.

    Thanks in advance!

Tax isn't collected upfront in Florida. The payment is taxed monthly.
$697 doc fee, and another $800 for DMV fees? That's a lot of padding.
What are the "options" for $920?
No mention of the $895 acquisition fee?

Hi, thanks for your quick response. Here's additional feedback from the dealer:
"We install 3M clear shield guards in every door cusp and every door edge to protect against scratches and paint chips. These are dealer installed items that are on every car we sell. I already discounted the price of the car well enough to compensate for the cost of these two items.

    The drive-off fees: $705.39(1st month payment) + $45.86(total cap reduction) + $548.75 (upfront charges) = $1300

    Net Cap Cost: $49,209.64
    "
I also had them run the numbers adding security deposit. This is what they came back with:
    "
    If you pay the security deposit $675 x 10 = $6750. Monthly payment is $665 "

Not getting a good feeling about either deal. Thoughts?
Again, thank you for your kind help.

Oh yes, the options are the two remaining lease payments on my current lease, which they said they would take care of (by rolling it in, I see.) I've already told them I have no problem waiting out my lease or even extending it.

I contacted them about the doc fees and registration fees, here in Florida the plate goes with the owner, so I will not be requiring a new plate, they are clearly padding there.

They did not mention the acquisition fee..

So maybe I'll ask the question a different way...this is the lease offer I was offered

the monthly payment seems a bit high with 0 down. And they quoted me

    36mo/15k = 1019

I'm being told I'm getting Audi tier 1 Financing,

So for Texas what is the MF and the Residual

    Thanx for any help

As I noted.. the tax number is irrelevant, as well.
That's a big discount on a 2018, but hard to say what the real price is without the adjusted CAP cost, and only numbers that apply to a lease. That will clear up any discrepancies between your calculations and theirs.

    Hi,

I am set to lease a 2018 Audi Q5 Premium Plus from a dealer in PA for 36 months at 15,000 miles per year. I negotiated 8% off MSRP but the dealer quoted a money factor of .00234 with residual of 59%. I think this interest rate is too high and was wondering if the money factor should be better? Thanks in advance.

The base money factor is .00174, for top tier credit.

That bump adds about $50+/mo. to the payment.

If the selling price is the adjusted CAP cost, I get $555/mo.
And, with $4413 upfront, there shouldn't be anything left to add to the CAP.

Ask them for the adjusted CAP cost and the money factor they used. Because their quote and my calculation are about $5000 off.

    Hi Kyfdx,
Thanks so much for the quick response. I did not agree to pay any CAP cost reductions as such so my assumption is that the SP is the adjust CAP.

Am i being ripped off here?

Potentially - but, we need to have the dealer provide the adjusted cap, and how they got to that number from the selling price. As my co-host noted, there is about a $5000 difference, based on our calculations and the dealer quote.

    Hi kyfdx and Michaell,

Thanks so much for all that you guys are doing here for novices like myself. I fell prey for the deal thinking I have done a great job bargaining. In my haste, I signed a PO and put down $1000.

However, based on your feedback, I went back to the dealership and learned that they are charging me MF of 0.00295 or 7.08% APR on the ADJ CAP/MSRP of 47,900. Thus pretty much clawing back the money I haggled for.

The dealer seems eager to close the deal with me and has assured a better MF pending my credit app processing and asked me not to worry if I have tier 1 credit, which I know I do.

Any advice on how to salvage this without losing my $1000?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Kyfdx,
Thanks so much for the quick response. I did not agree to pay any CAP cost reductions as such so my assumption is that the SP is the adjust CAP.

Am i being ripped off here?

    Thanks

It can't be a ripoff, because you have to agree to it.

But, it's not a good deal.

If you haven't signed the final lease contracts and have not taken delivery, ask them to update the numbers to be more in your favor. Is the $1000 refundable?

Thanks for your quick response, kyfdx. They haven't even run the credit check yet, and I have every reason to believe my credit is good.

Elder esq - where in PA are you? I am in the Pittsburgh area and looking to get into a Q5 Premium Plus. I currently have a Q5 lease which ends at the end of October. Im ready now!

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I had a question on the lease that I just got.

The agreed to price on the vehicle was $46,926.11 but on line one they put $48,690.11 there was $1,742 added some place and wondering what that could be?

The $895 acquisition fee is not being paid up front, so that's part of it.

Did you purchase AudiCare? If so, that cost may have been added in, as well.

Looking for input in the Bay Area, CA. Offer below on 2018 Q5 Premium.

    2018 Premium
Monsoon Gray on Black leather $42,075.00
    Panoramic sunroof $1,450.00
    Heated Front Seats $500.00
    19" Wheel Package $800.00
    Convenience Package $900.00
    Destination Charge $975.00
    MSRP $46,700

MF is .00174 and Residual is 62%

Question - what kind of discount off of MSRP are others seeing? Right now, I am only getting $2000 off.

Also, do dealers often waive the destination charge? They want to charge me $975.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Destination charge is part of the MSRP; no escaping it.

For Audi, we suggest 6% off sticker, but on the 2018's, you may not see that.

I confirm the MF and residual.
