Yes, ask the dealer for the adjusted CAP cost - this is the selling price plus any taxes and fees you are not paying up front. If the dealer does not want to share this information, it may be time to begin working with another dealer.

Dealer is offering the car at $60,990 ($500 off), with $5,000 (I offered that amount) and a $754 monthly lease payment. Does this sound reasonable? Or should I shop around at another Volvo dealer?

We don't track pricing, so can't tell you how much discounting is available.

We do not recommend that large of a down payment on a lease - in fact, we suggest you only pay the first payment and any DMV/registration costs up front. Roll all other taxes and fees into the lease payment.

What's the reason against putting down a $5,00 downpayment? The total cost of the lease should come out to about the same in either case, right?

Yes, but if the car is stolen or totaled before the end of the lease, that up front money is lost.

Went to another dealer that has basically exact same car and would only match terms, not do better. I'm content with the terms and no hidden dealer mark ups except for lack of discount on MSRP. As you said, brand new model, and if i could wait until December for deals I would, but need a new car now in the next 10 days. thanks for help regardless here. It was a very easy process thanks to info available on the forums

If you haven't taken delivery, you should be able to unwind the deal.
