Here is the deal I've been offered. How does it look? I'm not accustomed to paying so many of these lease fees (at least not identified as such), but the bottom line deal looks so good (when I figure the numbers all-in), I'm not sure I care.

Second question (small one). There is an Advance on the lot with some dealer-installed accessories - roof rails, trim, running boards. The total MSRP on these items is about $2000. How much should I expect to pay if I pick this one - keeping in mind that I do think that the dealer wants to move out the 2016s.

We recommend against the cap reduction - that money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled, but the payment will go up about $85/mo.

Destination fee is part of the MSRP - disingenuous of the dealer to break it out.

And, tax on leases in MA is assessed against the monthly payment.

Your up front costs should be acquisition fee, first payment and DMV costs.

Still, a payment under $500/mo is still pretty good for a $56K SUV

Hi All! This is my first post here. I have been reading through this thread trying to make sense of it all... I thought I had the lease thing down pat and now I question! So I am leasing my first car alone after my divorce and I want to get it right and not be taken advantage of. So I am looking at a 2016 MDX with Advance and Entertainment - MSRP $58,170. They are offering me an adjusted price of $53,170 - acquisition fee of $595, making the total $53,765. Residual is 55% - I have a few scenarios but am leaning towards down payment of $1653 (total due at signing) and monthly then is $652.52. Do you guys think this is a good deal? Thank you!!!

What state and tax rate is this?

What is the breakdown of the $1653?

Not much of a discount given the $2500 lease cash.

It's Ohio. My tax rate is 8%. The $1653 is a thousand down and first month's. Sounds like I can ask for some more off of the MSRP. Any other advice? Thank you!

Ohio calculates the sales tax on the sum of the payments, and collects that money up front. You can either pay it at lease inception or roll it into the lease payments.

Ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is - if higher than the selling price plus acq fee, find out what else has been added

$780/mo. Probably a better deal on a 2017 model.
