Are Toyota dealerships supposed to give out the residual/MF to potential customers upon request?

I have asked 2 dealers and they refuse, and of course want me to "come in".

I'm in negotiation with a dealer for the XLE AWD in NYC. But before I take the deal, I'm trying to see if the February MF went down from .00062 so I can do a little better.

They don't have to disclose the money factor, at all.
Residuals have to be disclosed on the lease contract.

When they refuse to answer your questions, just tell them you'll go with another dealership.

Unfortunately, we don't have the NY programs for this month to give you the money factor.
The residual is 62% for 36/15

Somehow, the dealer that I'm negotiating with is giving me 65%. That's what it says in the booklet he was looking it up in. I guess better for me.

MF matched 0.00062 that you guys posted last month. He says my January MF is locked in and if Feb is better, he'll adjust it.

Some other regions that had .00062 last month are .00036, this month.

That's no guarantee for your region, though.

Thanks, Michaell! Question, does the mf change from day to day or month to month? The dealer gave a mf of .00290 yesterday (Tier 1 credit), and today said it's .0087. We asked why it changed and his response was, "because we always carry 50 basis points in our rates, Toyota .0037 is Toyota's buy rate." Both rates seem very high and VERY different from the .00037 you mentioned above.

No, it doesn't change day to day. Chances are, they didn't bother looking up the actual rate, yesterday.

I'm surprised they can even mark up a "special" rate. We haven't seen that from other Toyota dealers.

You say, "I never pay money factor markups..." and, start walking towards the door...

HA! You're brilliant. The sales guy was a bit taken aback by that response. I just want to double check with you; however, that the mf is in fact .00037 and not .0037. He is saying I have it wrong and Toyota is .0037. Thanks, again, for all your help!

.00037 is the correct MF. Not sure I'd trust the sales person when quoting finance information. I'd almost have a hard time believing the finance manager.

You have the amounts mixed up. The acquisition fee is $650, and the dealer fee is likely $499.
Dealer fees are just garbage fees. You should consider them an addition to the sale price.
The acquisition fee is charged by the leasing bank.
2 years of maintenance is included with every new Toyota. That's not an extra cost thing for the dealer.

With those numbers, I get $346/mo.+tax, assuming all of the fees and first payment are paid upfront.

Northwest WA (Seattle area) is offering 2018 Highlander AWD XLE's for $299 per month on a 36 /12 lease with $3,800 down. The ad doesn't list the money factor.

Can you tell me the current MF and residual for the area and should I be able to apply that to any Highlander I want to lease, or is it specific to the specific outlined in the ads?

Does it make sense to take the advertised special, or can one generally do better by negotiating as if they are buying and then after the price is agreed then switching to the lease and plugging that number in?

Those numbers are good for any Highlander, this month

You should be able to improve on that deal, but understand that the $3800 down effectively adds $100/mo to your payment, so the true cost is $399/mo. I'd say that is only an adequate deal.

I'm not sure if it's ok for me to comment on this, but putting a down payment on a lease is not very smart. If the car gets totaled or stolen, the insurance (and GAP) will pay off the money owed on it, but your down payment is not returned to you.

I'd rather (and I have done this before) take one of those "$3,500 down and 299/month" offers and had the dealer turn them into "0 down and 399/month". With the money factor so low, your not saving much by putting down a down payment, but you are risking that money if the car gets written off.

The residual is different, base on trim or drive (FWD vs. AWD). Not sure I'd believe everything your dealer is telling you.

Dealer reserves the right to exclude anything they want - these aren't TFS promotions, but the dealer's.

Entirely possible that the Hybrid has different money factors.
We don't show a rate for the Hybrid model for your region, which makes me think the dealer may be correct.
