    Gents,

When you have it, could you post the rates for a 2.5i Touring, 2.5i Limited, and a 2.5i Premium, 36/10 in the Seattle area? I know the rates just changed over for Feb, so realize you may not have it yet.

    Thanks!

Just got them, this morning ... (who you shopping for?)

    Touring - 61% and .00035
    Limited - 60% and .00015
    Premium - 61% and .00020

    Hi,

Could I please have numbers for 2.5i premium, 36/10, 36/12 in Los Angeles?
Is there any incentives or rebates for premium recently? Thanks!

Is there someplace to see how good a price I'm getting on a Forrester? This forum appears to be solely for lease rates, and we're definitely going to purchase, not lease. Would just like a quick response as to whether the prices we're getting (Touring 2.5i Touring w/ Eyesight + Nav + Starlink, list $34,921, discount $2,932, final price with taxes, $499 dealer fee, $34,783) are decent or terrible. My apologies if this is the wrong place for this post! Thanks.

I just helped my daughters boyfriend with a limited. We got about 1,700 under invoice with a total of 4,000 off MSRP. The larger dealers in New England are very aggressive. No dealer in New Jersey could touch it.

By the way, you should negotiate a price price even if you lease.

Thanks Michael! What is the max Money factor markup for the Touring? I'm trying to figure out how they came to their numbers, definitely some added fees and probably marking that up.

    Their "Math"
    MSRP: 35,549
    Dealer Discount: 2,542
    Vehicle Price: 33006.40
    Residual: 21329.40

    + Accessories (glass etching I think): 299
    -Trade 3750
    -No down payment
    Trade difference price: 29,555.40

    Their "Purchase tax and fees"
    Lisc/Title: 300.55
    Tire/Battery/VTR: 5.00
    Sales/Use Tax: 2068.88
    Total Taxes and Fees: 2,374.43
    Total: 31,929.83

    Monthly Payment: "$349-$364"

I come in around $289 a month after taxes in my math below.

The rate can be marked up by .00050.

In your example, you didn't account for the $594.90 due at signing. You have to subtract that from the $3750 rebate, before applying the rest as CAP reduction.
Also, the rebate will be taxed, so subtract 10% sales tax, before applying the rest.

That was my mix-up there, thanks for pointing that out! My understanding in Pennsylvania is that you do not pay tax on the trade-in, so I put it in the "rebate" spot on my sheet to keep it from adding 10% tax on it.

I made your change, taking the 3750 - 613.89 making it 3,136.11 for the cap reduction.
Does that make more sense? (image below)

I still can't figure out how they get to a 349-364 monthly payment on that car in the offer they gave her. That's almost what I'm paying for my XT Touring and I only put $500 down!

Seems like about half the local dealers have a stick shift or two on the lot. Some don't, but since I've never met a CVT that I liked, I think that is the way I'll wind up going... Thanks for the numbers!

36 months is minimum for decent terms on a Subaru

36/10: .00035 MF and 63% residual for top tier

650 puts you in Tier 4... add .00080 for total MF of .00115

Just left a local dealer and here is what I was presented with:
2018 Subaru Forester 2.5i Premium w/all weather pkg and Protection pkg 1A

    MSRP  $28,492
    Dealer Discount $2,800
    Adj Price $25,692
    DOC fee $699
    Subaru AQ fee $595
    License Fee/Title Fee $154
    RV $17,380 (36m/10k) 61%
    MF 0.00020 (0.48%)

Pmt is $282/mo plus tax (its 3% tax on lease pmt in NC) with $0 down and only 1st pmt and tax due at sign.
    Zipcode 27502

Does the math work out correctly? I feel its a solid deal.
The dealer DID try to tell me the MF was 0.00075....but I quickly told them NO.

I am wondering if the TrueLove Event deals are better than a normal lease deal? My local dealer is advertising 36mo/10k miles for $179/mo $0 down. 2018 Forester 2.5i.

Also, does anyone know if leasing a car makes sense if I plan on moving in a few months across the country? Does that change the deal at all if I move?

That does seem like a good payment, but without all the details (MSRP, selling price), we can't tell you for sure.

The big issue with a lease is the mileage restriction. Not sure where you're moving from or two, but putting 1000-3000 miles on the car, in addition to all the everyday driving you'll do, could impact that.

It's always best to get a car when you need it.

I agree the mileage restriction is a bit low, but I had planned on towing the car on a flatbed when moving. I would also be planning on returning this after three years and not buying it out, I'm sure the price would be way too high with a payment this low, but it works for my plans for the car.

I would be moving from Florida to California. My worry is that I definitely won't be able to find a deal like this in Cali as the demand for Subarus is much higher than in Florida.

Think about lease taxes... Moving from which state, and to which state?

I would be moving from Florida to California. My worry is that I definitely won't be able to find a deal like this in Cali as the demand for Subarus is much higher than in Florida.
Florida is a crappy place to buy a car. California is the most competitive market in the country. I definitely would wait.

Taxes won't matter, as both states tax the monthly payment.

Intersting, why is Florida a crappy place to buy? I looked at some other dealers in LA where I'd be moving and they seem to have the same monthly payment promo but require a $2000 down payment.

Massive dealer fees.. hidden/extra charges for electronic filing.. crappy packages.
California restricts dealer fees to $80.. $599 and up for Florida dealers is the going rate.

Ah I didn't realize that. The dealer here actually charges a $795 dealer fee, I just thought that was normal. Looks like the fine print specifies it's for the JFA model only, which is the manual trans one, which they don't even have any stock of. Just another ploy to get me in the door. At least the Cali dealer advertises those prices for the CVT model. Looks like I will be waiting and hoping another deal like this comes along, it's around $100 of a normal lease deal when comparing on the Leasehackr calculator.
