Hoping Q or the other guys that are in the know can help me out on a value on this.
2014 Prius (regular style) trim level 4--good shape 34,000 miles grey outside and grey interior. It has pleather and nav.
CarMax offered 15k and dealer offers have been anywhere from 16k to 19k (later being at a Toyota dealer yesterday). I have a feeling the 19 is a really good offer ($2.00 gas is killing the value) and I should take it, just not impressed with anything on their lot and wanted to break away and get a GM/Ford suv before the end of the year with the big incentives being offered.

2014 Prius level 4 with 35k ... $19k is an insane number. I wouldn't pay that retail. $15k is very very fair, as that is right around what it would get at auction.
2009 Fit Sport... these have a pretty good spread, BUT, frankly, given the color, I gotta say $6k is not bad. It would be $7k in a more common color.
2014 turbo Forester... so location is very important on this one, and you are in the right place. However, there is a big spread on them, regardless. Most in the northern states are $22k-$23k, but I see one in PA for $20k, and many in warmer states are in that same $20k range. Given the condition, I'm going to peg this at $21k-$21.5k trade.
2014 Sienna... $19k-$19.5k.
2014 S60... I have absolutely no recent comps on this. Based on what Premiers are going for, I'm going to guesstimate $17k.

2014 Audi S4 S-Tronic with 40,000 miles in great condition (except as noted). 1 moderate previous accident repaired as well as can be done by American craftsmen. 1 big dent and scuffing to the rear bumper side by some idiot in a Costco parking lot turning too early when backing out of a parking space (estimate $900 to fix to Audi Standards; should I do it or let the next buyer deal with it?).
Options: Magma Nappa Leather, Misano Red Pearl Paint, Bang & Olufsen Sound System, Sport Rear Diff (Oh yeah!).
What can I get in 2016 for this without too much hassle in San Diego CA? Seems the red paint attracts bad drivers into collisions.

Well, depending on who you ask, there may or may not have been frame damage as since there isn't a "frame" on these Audi's (Uni-body construction) some insurance entities claim there can't be frame damage. There was like an hour of shop time dedicated to "pull Rt upper rail" and a line item for jig setup (both were designated as "body work." They don't have a designation for structural. Again, according to some hired insurance guns, the upper right rail is not structural, though I admit I can't buy that philosophy personally.
Several months after the accident, the Carfax was still clean; don't know about now. Package is Premium Plus. Any decent inspector will see the hood, front bumper, and front fender were replaced/repainted. The suspension bits at the front right were also replaced. No air bags deployed (very offset frontal collision; right headlamp to right edge of car took the hit.
Chances are low I'll make a move in 2016, but it's possible. I have my eye on a Golf R but they are so rare and in such high demand that I may not like the total bottom line deal of switching.

oh boy. Obviously a very tough one. You have the highest miles, by far, of any comps, and there is that ugly accident history. So where do I go from here? Well, if its my money, I gotta do what is "safe." If I take the couple of 25-27k mile examples at $35k and deduct $125/1k miles, that takes me to $33k, I deduct another $1k for wholesale vs auction, then I knock off 20% for the repairs, and I come to $25k. Will you get offers that low? I have no idea. Everybody is different. Someone might figure a couple grand deduct for the history is OK and give you $30k, for example. Like I said, if it were my lot and my money (of which I have neither), I'd be hard pressed to risk more than, say, $27k? If it shows real well and I think I could find a sucker easy enough.

Hello. I am looking for a trade in value for a 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L RES NAV with roof rails and an aftermarket remote start system installed. 95,000 miles on it. There are some minor scuff/scratches on the roof and bumper. Interior condition is good. I am its second owner. Clean title.
Well the unibody is now regarded as the "frame". I guess if your repair order shows a "pull" on a frame machine then the car was "bent" and that notation on the estimate is not a great thing to see. Another bad scenario on a repair order would be welding time, or complete panel replacement. I often encourage people whose cars have suffered an accident, to take photos of the damage beforehand (presuming it isn't gruesome-looking) to show potential buyers that it was "only a fender-bender". An "air bag deployed" on CARFAX is also a big minus to a buyer or dealer. Last of all, the total bill is something of an indicator. If your $40,000 care suffers $18,000 damage, that's a big hit.
Bottom line it goes like this. We put your car and a "virgin" car side by side. Given full disclosure, how much would you have to lower the price of your car to convince someone to buy it (or trade it in) over the untouched vehicle?

For me as a buyer of a previously damaged car, I'd look meticulously at the quality of the repairs. If the repairs were done well, I'd deduct all of @qbrozen 20% deduction to be safe, and want every penny of it to consider it compared to a "virgin" example of the same vehicle. I think 20% is the right diminished value, but other buyers might be more lenient and settle for 10%. I would say I fall in the "I'd rather have a new/undamaged version by far" category. Then again, I'm one who puts a big value on the fact the Golf R (and S4) were made and assembled in Germany vs. say the US or Mexico.
'18 Porsche Macan Turbo, '16 Audi TTS, Wife's '19 VW Tiguan SEL 4-Motion
I've never found a large enough database to convince myself that German-made cars are better assembled than the US or Mexico ones.
Our experiences with Japanese built Civics was superior to the rattle and problem prone US built Accord. My meticulous delivery inspection confirmed flawless quality control at Audi with the S4.
With Mexico built VW, this pic sums it up on quality control (lapses or in Sportwagen TDI case, problem appears to be judgment; either way). To be fair, the car is otherwise pretty flawless as well, just this one thing I think is below VW-grade.
Do you think point-of-assembly figures into resale values?
No, mainly because when it comes to fit & finish quality issues on cars, I'm part of the 1%, definitely not the 99%. This is why 99% of body shops can stay in business when I'm convinced 99% of them are terrible.
'18 Porsche Macan Turbo, '16 Audi TTS, Wife's '19 VW Tiguan SEL 4-Motion
You should run the S4 through Carmax. Just to get a baseline (reality check?). I'm really curious on this one real world.
I will when I'm closer to being 7 days from being willing to make a trade. Don't want to make Carmax do it twice, and something like the Golf R is unfortunately most difficult to get in under 7 days unless you are very lucky or don't care what colors/options you get.

Don't worry, any reputable used car dealer/manager will be able to easily find that a car had been in a previous accident and subsequently repaired upon visual inspection regardless of the "history" reports. One dead giveaway is if the "bolts" have been spun holding on the hood anchors and latches. A CarMax appraiser previously told me that if two or more body panels have evidence of having been removed/bolts spun; that's an automatic fail and straight to auction/wholesale vehicle for them. Pretty high standards, don't know if they are all that picky though.
Also, they directly ask you in a questionnaire/interview if the vehicle has been in an accident and/or previously repaired. That makes it much more difficult to mislead, as it isn't an error of omission, but deliberate fraud at that point to fail to disclose.
All this is why I filed a small claims lawsuit for diminished value upon the at-fault driver and his insurance company last year. I don't see anyone "getting away with it" unless they sell to an unsuspecting private party that doesn't know what they are looking at.

Hahahah, just consider myself lucky that the picture showed up and was visible and clear.
My only problem is with the aesthetic finish surface rear face of the muffler. The pipes don't hide the ugly splatter welding burning operation hired in Mexico. It is visible from behind, especially if the car is at a higher elevation than where you are looking from. 3 Sportwagen's had similar characteristics with these mufflers at the dealership, so it appears to be "acceptable" by Mexican VW QC standards. I just can't see this getting past Ingolstadt QC department.

A few months ago, while staying at hotel, I went for a walk and the was a CarMax around the block, so I walked the lot. They had some real crap. Took a car to CarMax for an appraisal once and I don't think they asked about any accidents, but I did volunteer that there had been some. My Fusion had a fender replacement in April/May and it showed up on Autocheck but not CarFax in October. Regarding your upside down picture, try right click, properties, uncheck read only, the rotate and save. The order may be a bit different.

every time I have cruised the online listings for Carmax, I have found the prices to be high (in some cases crazily). and they did not look like super low mile creampuffs. I find much nicer stuff at a local small dealer. all that overhead and advertising is being paid by someone, and that someone would be the buyers.
Have you been down to the new one in Sicklerville? I see it all time, coming up the expressway. I'd like to browse the lot for curiosity sake. I think if you are going down the no-haggle used lot you would be better off at Auto Lenders.
I saw when they were building that place (we go to Texas Roadhouse occasionally, and I go down cross keys to get to the Acura dealer on 42). Someday when I am bored I will take a walk through.
I go by autolenders all the time (up on 73) and stop in occasionally, and test drive some stuff. always find their prices a bit high, but they have a ton of inventory, so must be selling them. At least they are really low pressure there. Great place to try out stuff, since they just hand you the keys and tell you to have fun!
